Without volunteers, there would be no Black Nights Film Festival. It’s that simple. This year too, PÖFF is looking for help from all those who are ready to contribute to the organization of one of the largest film events in Northern Europe.
There are roles for a wide variety of talents in the PÖFF30 volunteer team. You can welcome film guests, help organize premieres and special events, create content, capture the festival as part of the photo or video team, or get involved in marketing, production, communications, logistics, and cinema work. Some roles will take you to the festive black carpet, some behind the camera, and some in the invisible backroom of the festival, but everyone has their part to play in the birth of PÖFF30.

In return, the volunteer can watch PÖFF films for free and use discounts only valid at the festival and intended for wolves, including lunch, etc. We also organize special movie nights and get-togethers.
In total, we expect 450 volunteers to join us in Tallinn and Tartu (PÖFF, PÖFF Tartu, Just Film, PÖFF Shorts, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event).
The festival takes place from 06.-22. November 2026.
The deadline for registration is September 25, 2026.
Since 2019, the Dark Nights Film Festival will also carry the Volunteer Friend badge, which recognizes organizations that have excelled in engaging volunteers and dealing with them at a high level of professionalism. This spring, the festival was also awarded the title of the best contemporary volunteer, which was presented by President Alar Karis when announcing the makers of the year of civil society.
What skills/resources are expected from the voulunteers?
From ticket sellers to ushers, from drivers to photographers, there are more than a dozen jobs available. All those interested can note the professions that match their interests and skills, and all assistants will undergo the corresponding training. The trainings take place between 12.10-05.11 – the exact schedule depends on the department and the city, but as a rule it means 1 to 3 group meetings.
As a rule, each volunteer contributes 35-40 hours of their time during the festival weeks. Each field has its own manager and work is based on a schedule.
What volunteering offers?
New PÖFF volunteers can join the large “wolf pack” of volunteers that has developed over the years and participate in PÖFF every year.
All volunteers who have completed the training will receive a certificate of their volunteer work, which is useful both at school and in the workplace.
What does the organization offer?
In return, the volunteer can watch PÖFF films for free with their badge and use various partner discounts valid only at the festival, including lunch. In addition, we offer, among other things, a PÖFF sweatshirt, special events, cinema nights, various discounts, great company, a unique work experience, etc. It’s great to be with us!
